How did you two meet?
We meet our first year at high school.
How did he/she propose?
It was our anniversary, Sean had been away for work came home for us to go out for tea. We got ready to go out, he then went to get 'money for tea' (the ring) out of his gun safe. I was sorting my handbag turned around and there he was on his knee, I said Yes straight away and started crying like a baby.
How did you choose your wedding dress?
I was fortunate enough to have won a wedding expo competition for a wedding dress from the amazing girls at Love Me Do Bridal! I browsed dresses that I thought were right but ended up falling in love with something completely different!
How did you choose your date/venue?
We loved our getaway weekends to the Catlins and when we were told about a wedding venue there (River Ridge Retreat) we had to go view it! We knew straight away this is where our next adventure would start! As for the date we wanted summer and something close to our anniversary.
Did you have a theme/colour scheme for your wedding?
People that know me well are aware my favourite colour is blue so it was a given my bridesmaids would be in blue. As for the theme it would be a more rustic vibe
Tell us about the ceremony - did you write your own vows?
We had a short but sweet ceremony run by the amazing and funny Sharyn Payne, she helped point us in the right direction for our perfect ceremony. We wrote our own vows which of coarse I pondered over for ages and Sean wrote the week of the wedding.
Where did you have your photos taken?
Before we even got engaged I knew I wanted bridal photos at Purakaunui Falls, and when I seen in Brogan's portfolio (Kiwi Captures Photography) that she had photographed a couple at that falls I knew she had to be our Photographer. As for Bridal party photos we ran around Purakaunui Beach, which I was not afraid to get my wedding dress and veil dirty, at the end of day it's all about having fun.
Which is your favourite photo from the wedding day? Why?
My favourite photo from our wedding would have to be us kissing under the Purakaunui Falls. I love it so much it's blown up on a canvas above our bed. Such a beautiful reminder of our special day.
Tell us about your reception?
Once we got back to River Ridge everyone was in the reception area where we cut the cake, shared some tears and laughs with speeches before dinner. After the best meal we had more speeches then played the shoe game which was a great laugh for all, followed by our first dance to 'Perfect' By Ed Sheeran. We taught ourselves a dance from watching YouTube the week before the wedding. After that flowed into dessert, photobooth shenanigans and partying the night away.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The entire day will forever be memorable, but a stand out laugh out loud moment would be playing the shoe game at the reception.
Is there anything you would do differently in retrospect?
Wouldn't change a thing loved every moment of the day, just wished there was more hours in the day. Was definitely the fastest day of our lives!
